In the summer where humidity is at the highest and we see rain the most often, blackberry devices are more susceptible to moisture which can ruin your phone. However, even if your device indicator is not showing for moisture damage; your phone may still have this problem. The most important suggestion is to get insurance in advance. In many instances your carrier will not recognize your warranty on moisture damaged devices. Typically, it will cost the subscriber $5 -$7 per month and will require a deductible if you do activate the insurance for a refurbished phone. Furthermore, one may usually utilize this resource on an annual basis

The other option is to try to fix the phone yourself which is a challenge but possible depending on the extent of the damage. The more technologically inclined may attempted to disassemble the phone. Otherwise, please see the suggested steps below.
1) Remove the battery and cover immediately and do not attempt to turn on the device.
2) Place and seal in bag or container with uncooked rice, silicon gel or any non-abrasive water absorbing agent.
3) Leave item in bag or container in a warm place for next 4 to 6 days. From experience, I left my container on top of my TV cable box.
4) Allow the device to cool at room temperature and place battery back into the device.
5) Cross your fingers.

Good advice! What we don’t often realize is that it’s not the water that causes the problem… it’s the combination of water AND electricity.
Thanks for some great information!
