According to Electronista, the Blackberry Tour faces a 50% return rate due to trackball problems. My primary phone is the Tour and the issue of the trackball has not been so apparent from my experiences these past 2 months. Apparently, carriers such as Sprint believe the issue could have been fixed with a slight quality adjustment that would have increased costs by only 3%. Will this issue lead to lack of confidence that some attained after the Storm? Only time will tell.
With the introduction of trackpad devices such as the 9700 and 8520, the hope is that we will see less recurrences of these issues. However, these devices are not a panacea to the problem if necessary quality is being sacrificed over cost.
